In his first years, Baker traveled along with his missionary parents. James Colson Baker, his father, struggled with depression and unemployment. The mother of his son Sonia Alane had left him at the age of nine. Baker and his father relocated to Denver in the United States, and they stayed at the house of his dad's aunt. Baker was subject to bullying since he lived in poverty by the other kids. When he was in sixth grade, he began to listen to rap.
